Growth is found in the community of Jesus.  You are invited to take a step in grace and growth with Severna Park Baptist Church.  Severna Park Baptist Church is a family of faith. We are not perfect, but we are pressing on in the grace and goodness of Jesus Christ. The gospel of Jesus is central to who we are and what we do.  Our vision for church is growing godly generations through... We were made for connection. Here we use "The Gospel Project", which is a 3-year study through all 66 books of the Bible. Our children & youth ministry also meets during this time to learn from the same curriculum with the age-graded learning.  - We also have rotating "[Family Groups](https://www.spbcmd.com/adult)" with *about* 3-5 families who gather for friendship, faith, and mission. Our Groups are the backbone of our church. And don't worry where you are in the faith journey, we can all learn from each other no matter what. In our groups we become part of a community of friends where we learn, laugh, love, and even lament in our life experiences.   - We seek to go deeper in making disciples through "Gospel Formation Groups." In all, worshipping God is more meaningful when you turn up than tune in. - - Parking: We do have some guest parking near the front, but if that is not available please find your best space. We have greeters near the building entrance to welcome your family and assist with any of your immediate needs. - - Door Entry: The main entry is the front door, which follows the front steps and handicap ramp. Greeters will be present to welcome you and meet your family needs with any childcare or restroom facility locations.   - - 9:30am Bible Groups for all ages (2 years through adults). Enter through our front door and we will have people to direct you to meeting locations inside the building. Children meet downstairs first floor. Youth meet upstairs education hallway in room across from restrooms. Adults are also on first floor Fellowship Hall. - - 10:45am Worship music and messages have a blend of songs from the past and present, along with relevant topics from the Bible. If you do not own a Bible, we have one in the seating as our gift to you. - \*Children's Nursery from birth through 5 years are welcome to participate in our nursery with adult volunteers. We have two classes: Infant (Thru 2) and Toddler (2-5). Enter through the front door near the steps/ramp and inside the front foyer will be someone to greet you and direct you to these classrooms in our Park Kids Hallway. Drop-off is no earlier than 10:30am and pickup following the worship gathering.  - \*\*Children in grades 1st and above are encouraged to worship with their families. Jesus loved and invited children to be around Him, and so do we (Matthew 18:5; 19:14). Undoubtedly there will be moments children will chatter, get the wiggles, or possibly get upset. It's ok - we promise! We have "kid bags" with a notebook and activity to help younger children pay attention. We also include a small snack/candy in each bag. Just ask one of our greeters and they will provide if they don't see you. As needed, feel free to step out in our front or side foyer for a moment and return when you are ready. - Dress attire ranges everything from casual to Sunday best, but everyone is welcome to come as you feel comfortable.  - - A safe environment for all, especially for minors, is important to you and us. All volunteers with our children and youth ministries have a clear background check. Further, we realize families have children or individuals with differing abilities and are too often isolated from community. Our church values each person made in the image of God and wants to include everyone. We take the Bible seriously, but we take ourselves less seriously. We laugh at ourselves and we love others in growing relationships. We call this "growing godly generations." The word “*gospel*” can be a helpful acronym that further describes our church family and core values. GOD: We are worshipers.  All of us give ultimate attention and affection to someone or something. When good things become ultimate things, they can become an idol. We want to prioritize each area of our life in the proper place, believing God is only worthy of our worship. No person is an island. We need each other for strength and support. Our church seeks to create an environment of loving relationships where every person is valued regardless age, gender, race, politics. Even those who may be seeking or skeptic can find in our church family a people who will listen and learn from one another. SPIRITUAL GROWTH: We are thermostats impacting communities and culture. A thermometer reads its environment, but a thermostat impacts its surroundings. Our church’s aim is not only to attract a Sunday audience, but to equip an army of people who have God’s calling, conviction, character, and capacity to make a difference in the world around them. Each member has a gift with time and talent to serve God and the good of others.   Our church has vocational and part-time staff, along with numerous other gifted men and women who volunteer to serve our church community. Dave is married to Danielle and they have five children (four girls and one boy).  Dave started serving the church at the age of 18 and later dedicated his life to pastoral ministry in 1998. He  has served churches in Maryland, Tennessee, North Carolina, and returned to Maryland in 2005. His family  has had the privilege of partnering with God's work at Severna Park since December 2009. Bill has over forty years of ministry experience with music and pastoral ministry. Bill is an accomplished musician with a doctorate in piano performance, and skilled at leading worship. He is also passionate about equipping individuals and building teams to serve the Lord and others in the community through the local church. Bill joined the pastoral staff in February 2021. April was raised in Hawaii and is married to Jason, and they have three children (two boys and one girl). She has been a member since 2010 and joined the ministry staff part-time in January 2019. Our church office can be contacted through office@spbcmd.com or 410-647-0765.  Generally, our office is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9am-4pm. Our Ministry Coordinator is in the office Mondays & Thursdays 3-5pm. Our Elder Team assists with feeding, leading, and kneading. Feeding is teaching Scripture. Elders also lead and equip our ministries to stay aligned with the Great Commission. Our elders also shepherd and disciple members in God's truth and grace, as a baker kneads ingredients together. Here we use "The Gospel Project", which is a 3-year study through all 66 books of the Bible. Our children & youth ministry also meets during this time to learn from the same curriculum with the age-graded learning.  - We also have multiple small groups, also known as "family groups" with *about* 4-8 families who gather for friendship, faith, and mission. Our Groups are the backbone of our church. And don't worry where you are in the faith journey, we can all learn from each other no matter what. In our groups we become part of a community of friends where we learn, laugh, love, and even lament in our life experiences.   - We also have [Men's Ministry](/men) and [Women's Ministry](/women) with various group studies and opportunity for connection. - We have a [Young Adult (age 18-30)](mailto:spbc-ya@googlegroups.com) Group that gathers 2nd & 4th Saturdays for Bible study, and meets other times for fun outings. In addition to our church family ministries, we gather regularly on *3rd Tuesdays 10:30am* in our fellowship hall (FH) downstairs. We share stories, tell jokes, sing hymns, learn the Bible, and grow together in faith, hope, and love.  Sometimes our group travels to special outings around town. All are welcome to attend.  The easiest entrance is the door neared the FH, which is the side of the building. The SPBC homeschool umbrella group was established in 2014. Our group is not a co-op or tutorial group. This is specifically for families seeking to homeschool through an umbrella group instead of the board of education (BOE). By joining, you will commit to: 1) Selecting curriculum(s) to educate child and meet BOE standards ([AACPS Homeschool](https://www.aacps.org/homeinstruction)).  2) Applying and paying registration fee (2025-2026 fee is $65 per family). 3) Paying review fees (2025-2026 fee is $50 per child). 4) Participating in a mid-year review (MYR). 5) Participating in an end-of-year review (EOYR).  We commit to: 1) Notifying Board of Education (BOE) you are under our umbrella, 2) Completing MYR & EOYR, and maintaining annual records. We will be taking applications for the next school year beginning in mid-August.   A phone interview is required before acceptance into our umbrella.  Q: Why haven't I heard back from you? A: Our umbrella group is volunteers, who are also parents. We will respond as soon as possible. Additionally, please make sure your interest form (right) is filled out completely. Last, the best way to receive communication is not calling the church office but by completing this form and providing your email. Thank you for your patience and understanding.  Q: Do you provide materials? A: No, as an umbrella we do reviews and make sure your homeschooling is meeting state guidelines. Our families have had success with [sonlight](https://www.sonlight.com/), [timberdoodle](https://timberdoodle.com/) and [ACE](http://www.aceministriesng.org/whatispace.php) curriculums, but we do not have a required curriculum. A: The review is a formal but fun face to face meeting to go over the child's work. We will meet at the church building in Jan/Feb and June. The child will come to the mid-year review, but is not required to attend the end-of-year review. During the reviews, we will need to see work samples - tests, handwriting, journals, projects...anything that shows their educational progress. We are looking for material from all the required subject areas, but you can also bring information on electives that you are using and it will be documented on the review form. Offering baskets are passed among the aisles for those willing and able to give. If you would like an envelope system to keep records for an annual statement please contact the church office. We also have an online giving option that is safe, secure, and simple. Below are instructions for you to follow, please let us know if you need further instructions or are having trouble setting it up. You can give through the "bill pay" option offered through your online banking (via your checking account).  It is easy and only takes a few minutes to set up if you already manage your accounts online. Locate the Bill Pay section of that website and add Severna Park Baptist Church as a payee. Your bank will mail a check to the church each time you request a payment. The address is 506 Benfield Rd, Severna Park, MD 21146 Click on this link OR text number below and follow instructions. Text GIVE to the phone number and you will be sent a link to setup text giving. Once setup, you will not have to repeat account unless you change your giving source.  Please note the amount the church receives from online and/or text giving is 3% lower than your gift amount due to service charges. You may kindly consider this in your giving amount.  The in-person and bank bill pay options have no percentage fees removed.  Our goal at SPBC is not to increase donors but disciples of Jesus.  Our financial records and annual budget are available for review at our multiple Members Meetings throughout the year.
